Mediabistro posted 10 interesting social media stats today. Some of them were absolutely incredible to see in terms how often and widely used social media is today. The infographic was originally published by Likeable.

#5 – 100 hours of video being uploaded to YouTube every minute is mind boggling. We have all been sucked into marathon sessions of mindless YouTube clips, but as it states, it would take four days to watch that one minute of uploads.

#7 – 4.2 billion people access social media sites from mobile devices. This one I’m having trouble believing due to various reports about a large portion of the world population that lives in impoverished conditions. I need to do more research into this one.

#10 – Every second, two members join LinkedIn. LinkedIn has become an absolute necessity for job seekers in today’s ever increasing digital world. It’s seems everyone is now realizing just that. It is a great way to connect with people in your industry, stay alert to trending industry topics, and do a good deal of job hunting.

These are just three of the ten listed, but it is a great infographic to show the upward trend in social media use. It seems one thing is for certain: social media is here to stay.
